SAN FRANCISCO (Amy) -- So our website from last year's trip to Ryan's parents' house was a big success and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to read it.

This year we are getting a ride with Ryan's parents to Shingletown, which is right near Mount Lassen. That's about where we left off last year. Then we are heading north up to Crater Lake and then west over to Ashland, Oregon, to visit my brother and his girlfriend. Then we are riding back to San Francisco, not on the coast, but not totally in the Central Valley either. Ryan is doing the route planning, hopefully while I write this.

Last year we had great weather. This year I am scared. The weather reports look cold and rainy. In some places we are going it snowed a just couple days ago. Ryan is being crazy about bringing appropriate clothing. I think last year I mocked him too much for over packing and now he refuses to bring items like rain pants, a sweater, and warm socks.

I feel super out of shape this year. I've been sick. I've been struggling on my daily commute. Ryan seems fine. Ryan actually seems more in shape this year.

What is Ryan's Corner? Well, my fans (Bob) thought that my voice was under-represented on our last years bike tour site. So this year I was going to try to be more vocal [with more comments like this]. But, woahhh, Amy flipped out and thought I was "interfering with her writing flow." But really, it's because she has a new boyfriend and doesn't want me to embarrass her and, oh, he's also a writer. So she relegated me to here, Ryan's Corner.
